Annual and Perpetual Trophy Requirements

The club has a number of trophies that are presented each year for each of the different sports that Shelties are involved in.

​There are trophies in Conformation, Obedience (something for nearly every level along with top Obedience Sheltie), Agility, and Tracking. To be eligible, a dog must be a sheltie, and the owner must be a financial member of the sheltie club.

Conformation
Rules for all Conformation Trophies:
Trophy is open to all SA members of the SSC of SA
Eligibility of trophies is from 1st October to 30 September each year. Owners
must be a financial member of the Sheltie Club when scores are obtained. All
trophies are to be applied for in writing by the applicant to the secretary with
applications to be postmarked before 15th October each year. Applications must include all details. All Perpetual trophies must be returned to the Trophy Officer by the AGM each year.
 
Show Dog and Show Bitch of the Year- SSCSA Award
1. Trophy is open to all SA Member of the SSCSA inc
2. Owners must be financial members at the time of points being gained.
3. The winners will be the Dog and Bitch gaining the most challenge
points in one year.
4. A year is from 1st October to 30th September.
5. Group points to be counted as challenge points.
6. In the event of a tie, Best of Breed wins to be the decider; (Best in Group,  R/up in Group then class wins in group until a tie breaker is found)
7. All championship shows in SA to count.
8. Onus is on the exhibitor to notify of challenge wins
9. Notification to go to the secretary within 14 days of 30th September
 
Conformation Shield- SSCSA Award
1. Trophy is open to all SA members of the SSCSA
2. Owners must be financial members at the time of points being gained.
3. The winner will be the Dog or Bitch winning Best in Show at the Shetland Sheepdog Club of SA annual parade
4. A year is from 1st October to 30th September.
5. Nomination for this trophy is not required.
 
Pet Shield – SSCSA Award
1. Trophy is open to all SA members of SSCSA inc
2. Owners must be financial members at the time of points being granted.
3. Open to all sheltie’s either pedigreed or non-pedigreed but must in the
opinion of the committed be purebred.
4. Open to all sheltie’s that has not been entered in a show, parade or
trial for a period of 18 months prior to the last designated activity of
the year of competition. The exception being Fun day shows or trials
run by the SSCSA.
5. The award is not open to any sheltie that has gained its title of Aust
Champ in the 4 years prior to the date of the nominated events.
6. This award is contest over two member competitions.
7. Points to be award in Best Pet class only on the basis of 1 point for
each dog or bitch beaten in class plus 1 for itself. (First 4 placing are
in each class to count).
8. Points accumulate over both competitions.
9. Nomination for this trophy is not required.
 
Puppy of the Year– Ch Ballyclare Briar Rose  Memorial             
Donated by A Lim & P Brennan-Lim
1. Trophy is open to all SA member of the SSCSA inc
2. Owners must be financial members at the time of point being gained.
3. The winner will be the puppy who gains the most points at nominated
shows throughout the year.
4. A year is from 1st October to 30th September.
5. Nominated Shows are;
♦ All metropolitan championship shows, (metropolitan, Northern
and South-Eastern Easter circuits
♦ SSCSA Parade/ SSCSA OPEN .
6. This is a perpetual trophy held for 1 year.
7. Replacement trophy is issued at presentation function following return
of perpetual trophy.
8. Points scored as follows:
♦ 1 point for each dog beaten in either minor or puppy classes plus
1 point for the dog itself.
(ie 6 in a class - 1st gets 6 points 2nd gets 5 points etc)
♦ Puppy of breed winner also adds points of opposite sex puppy
class winner.
(ie Bitch puppy is Puppy of Breed with 5 class points Dog Puppy won his class
with 10 points, so Bitch add 10 points to her score giving her 15 points, Dog
keeps hes 10 point only.
♦ Minor Puppy of breed also adds points of opposite sex minor
puppy class winner same as Puppy of breed.
♦ Group points and in Show points
Best puppy in group 5 points plus breed points.
Minor puppy in group 5 points plus breed points.
Puppy in Show Add further 10 points.
Minor in Show Add further 10 points.
♦ At SSCSA Championship Show and Parade Puppy in Show and
Minor in Show only gain points of opposite sec winner. No extra
points are added or in show award.
♦ When a puppy in entered in both minor and Puppy both points to
count.
9. The onus is on the exhibitor to notify the Secretary of wins, by photocopy or original fully marked catalogue within 14 days of 30th September.
10. The Trophy remains the property of the donors.
11. In the event of a tie, class in-group wins to be the decider.
 
Shelsian Trophy
Donated by I & C Spangler
For the South Australian Breeder gaining an Australian Championship title with
their first home bred sheltie.
1. Trophy is open to all SA members of SSCSA inc
2. Owners must be financial members at the time of title being granted.
3. Notification of registration as a champion and a photograph of winning
Dog/Bitch to be forwarded to the Secretary 14 days after the 30th
September.
 
Baby  Puppy of the Year - SSCSA Award
1. Trophy is open to all SA members of SSCSA inc
2. Owners must be financial members at the time of points being granted.
3. The winner will be the Baby Puppy who gains the most points at
nominated shows throughout the year.
4. A year is form 1st October to 30th September.
5. Nominated shows are:
♦ All metropolitan championship shows, (metropolitan, Northern
and South-Eastern Easter circuits
♦ SSCSA Parade.
6. This is a perpetual trophy for 1 year.
7. Replace trophy is issued at presentation function following return of
perpetual trophy.
8. Points scares as follows:
♦ 1 point for each dog beaten in either baby dog/bitch class plus 1
point for itself
♦ BPOB also adds points of opposite sex winner
♦ Group Points
♦Baby in group Add 5 points
♦Baby in Show Add further 10 points.
♦ Specialist Show Baby of Breed only adds opposite sex winner
points.
9. Onus is on the exhibitor to notify the Secretary of wins, by copy of
photocopy or original fully marked catalogue with 14 days of 30
September.
10. The trophy remains the property of the donor.
11. In the event of a tie, class in-group wins to be the decider.
 
Harradei Xpress Delivery Top Tricolour Trophy
Donated by H and J Innes. 
1. The object of this Trophy is to encourage and promote the exhibition
of the Tricolour Shetland Sheepdogs.
2. For the Tricolour Dog/Bitch gaining the most number of Challenge
point in SA throughout the year.
3. Trophy is open to all SA members of SSCSA.
4. Members must be financial at the time of all point awarded.
5. Year is form 1st October to 30th September.
6. This is a perpetual Trophy held for one year.
7. Winner will receive a replacement trophy at the Trophy presentation
function.
8. Onus is on the exhibitor to nominate within 14 days of 30th September, all nominations are to be sent to the Secretary.
9. The trophy remains the property of the donor.
 
Rimini Top   Blue  Merle Trophy                                                         
Donated by B Turner
1. Open to all SA members of the SSCSA
2. Members must be financial at the time of all points being gained.
3. For the Blue merle Dog/Bitch gaining the most number of challenge
points throughout the year.
4. A year is from 1st October to 30th September.
5. The perpetual trophy is not to leave SA and remains the property of
the donor.
6. Onus is on the exhibitor to nominate within 14 days of 30th September.
All nominations to be sent to the Secretary.
 
Neutered Show Dog and Show Bitch of the Year
1. Trophy is open to all SA Member of the SSCSA inc
2. Owners must be financial members at the time of points being gained.
3. The winners will be the Dog and Bitch gaining the most neutered challenge
points in one year.
4. A year is from 1st October to 30th September.
5. Group points to be counted as challenge points.
6. In the event of a tie, Best of Breed wins to be the decider; (Best in Group,  R/up in Group then class wins in group until a tie breaker is found)
7. All championship shows in SA to count.
8. Onus is on the exhibitor to notify of challenge wins
9. Notification to go to the secretary within 14 days of 30th September
 
Obedience
Top CCD Top Community Companion Dog   Title  (CCD)
Donated by Edwina Allen (no Perpetual)
• The dog/bitch is eligible to win the trophy in the year the final pass of
the title is gained.
• To comprise of the first 3 scores used to gain the title.
• All three scores are to count even if they are gained over more than
one year.
 
The Ranindi Trophy Top Novice Title  
Donated by Sally Millan (no Perpetual)
• The dog/bitch is eligible to win the trophy in the year the final pass of
the title is gained.
• To comprise of the first 3 scores used to gain the title.
• All three scores are to count even if they are gained over more than
one year.
 
The Touchmill Trophy Top Open Title
Donated by Iain & Carol McGregor (Perpetual & Replica)
• The dog/bitch is eligible to win the trophy in the year the final pass of
the title is gained.
• To comprise of the first 3 scores used to gain the title.
• All three scores are to count even if they are gained over more than
one year.
 
The Tofonie Trophy Top Utility Title  
Donated by Sandy Steele (Perpetual  & Replica)
• The dog/bitch is eligible to win the trophy in the year the final pass of
the title is gained.
• To comprise of the first 3 scores used to gain the title.
• All three scores are to count even if they are gained over more than
one year.

The Hamish Trophy Highest single Utility score (non-titled)        
Donated by Dorothy & Tom McKay  (no Perpetual)
• The highest single passing Utility score for a non-titled Utility dog
• The third Utility pass may be counted
• In the event of a tie, the second highest qualifying score will be the
decider.
 
Obedience  Sheltie of the Year - Top Obedience Sheltie of the year
Donated by SSC of SA Inc    (No Perpetual)
• The winner will be the dog/bitch with the highest total points 

Agility
Agility Title Trophy - Top Agility Dog Title     
Donated by Ros Turnbull       (No Perpetual)
• The dog/bitch is eligible to win the trophy in the year the final pass of their Agility Title (AD) is gained.
• To comprise of the first 3 trials used to gain the title.
• All three scores are to count even if they are gained over more than one year.
  
Top Agility Award – Top Agility Award            
Donated by SSC of SA Inc    (Perpetual)
• Open to all Agility and Jumping classes only
• Only qualifying passes to count
• The winner will be the dog/bitch with the highest total points 
 
Tracking
Tracking Dog Trophy – Top Tracking Dog     
Donated by Ann Farndell    (No Perpetual)
• The winner will be the dog/bitch with the highest total points

Rally
Top Rally Dog       
Donated by Ruth Egel
• The dog/bitch is eligible to win the trophy in the year with the highest total points.
• Highest qualifying score and placing in either Novice Advanced Excellent or Master Class.
